A festival like no other, Meadows in the Mountains takes place 850 meters above sea level in the Rhodope Mountains. Running from 7-10 June, festival goers are encouraged to switch off from reality and indulge in social harmony and self-expression, while enjoying some new and exciting sounds.
The Duanwu Festival, also often known as the Dragon Boat Festival, is a traditional holiday which falls on the 5th day of the 5th month of Chinese calendar. This year, it takes place on Monday 18 June. Will you be picking up a paddle this year to take part or are you just spectating? Either way, you can look forward to filling your stomach with as many zongzi as it will allow.
Father’s Day in Costa Rica is celebrated the third Sunday in June, which means this year it falls on June 18. There isn’t a particular tradition when it comes to celebrating Father’s Day, so you can make it as personal as you want. What are you going to treat him to this year?
The Isle of MTV has been held in Malta since 2007 – you’ll be pleased to hear that run isn’t going to end in 2018. The one-day festival has seen performers such as The Chainsmokers, Jason Derulo and David Guetta rock the Isle of MTV stage, so you can be sure that this year’s line-up won’t disappoint. On June 22-23, head over to Cañon City, Colorado where you will find the ninth Annual Royal Gorge Whitewater Festival. The name gives it away somewhat, but you can expect to find kayak, stand-up paddle board, raft and river board competitions along with other events to promote the outdoors and an active lifestyle. Yet to be convinced? The promise of plenty of beer and bands should do it!
Various activities are being planned in Hanoi to celebrate Vietnam Family Day (June 28). The Family Day festival includes sports competitions, photo exhibitions and other events, helping families experience different Vietnamese traditions like net fishing, planting rice and riding a buffalo.
