This year an estimated 2 million people took part in Good Deeds Day 2022. Tek Experts is proud to say that we were part of that 2 million! Our Tek Experts Giving Back Crews around the globe initiated acts of kindness and support among coworkers and communities from March 26th to April 8th in honor of Good Deeds Day.
What is Good Deeds Day?
Good Deeds Day is an annual International Day of Volunteering meant to unite people from around the world to do good for the benefit of others and the planet. It began in 2007, and millions of people from businesses, nonprofits, schools, families, and individual do-gooders have taken part.
Tek Experts’ Initiatives
Our Vietnam team kicked things off on March 26th at the Classroom of Hope in Hanoi. 27 Tek Experts volunteers organized a trip with Trade Union to this non-profit class to participate in games and activities supporting students with disabilities.
The team donated 90 gifts to students and teachers, along with classroom items including a TV, laptop, bookshelf, and books. We were also pleased to grant scholarships to 15 well-deserving students with outstanding performance.
In Colorado Springs, Colorado, we organized a clothing drive, collecting more than 4 full racks of clothing, purses, shoes, and even roller skates! Team members came together on Good Deeds Day to box up and donate these items to ARC Thrift Stores.
ARC Thrift Stores is one of the state’s largest employers of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. By providing gainful, enriching employment and educational programming, people with autism, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, and other intellectual and developmental disabilities can thrive and gain independence.
On April 6th, our Bulgaria team hosted a “Charity Kitchen” where employees cooked and sold their favorite dishes to fellow coworkers. We raised 600 BGN that will be donated to Bulgarian elderly people in need. The specific charity will be announced later this week. Due to the great success of our first “Charity Kitchen”, we are planning to host another event in the near future.
In San José, Tek Experts volunteers joined our sister company, elev8, to take part in Charity Miles. This is an app that generates donations through exercise. The more miles a team runs or walks, the more money is donated to charity.
Team members were able to pick a charity of their choice, and the team’s official charity for Good Deeds Day 2022 was UNICEF. 25 Tek Experts and elev8 employees exercised a total of 776.32 miles over the course of 6 days. Impressive!
Our Nigeria team took part in Good Deeds Week by visiting Living Fountain Orphanage, within Victoria Island, to interact with the children and caregivers. 20 Tek Experts volunteers delivered groceries, food, and toiletries to the orphanage, and enjoyed a song performed by some of the children.
In Kigali, our Tek team hosted 30 kids and their families on site for a charity event we organized to contribute and support them with getting medical insurance. Tek volunteers shared lunch with the families and also gifted t-shirts, cross bags, and balls to the children.
Along with these volunteering initiatives, Tek Experts employees at each of our sites were encouraged to perform good deeds throughout the week. Thanks to our Tek Experts Giving Back Crew and our incredible volunteers, we were able to engage in some truly remarkable events supporting our mission to positively impact the wellbeing of our employees, our communities, and our environment.
