Who doesn’t like a spot of shopping. That feeling of excitement you get when you have something new to wear. The problem with clothes shopping is the risk of overspending once we step into a boutique or mall whether we need the items or not. And many of us, to be honest, don’t need to stuff more in our dresser drawers.
So how can you get that feeling of trying something new, trying something that you wouldn’t normally buy, without breaking the bank? At Tek Experts Colorado Springs, they organized a cloth swap event in the office, that’s how.
Managed by the members of the Tek Experts Community Outreach Team, staff brought in their gently used clothes and were able to shop and refresh their wardrobe with clothes that others had donated. Members of the team not only sorted through the piles of donated apparel in their free time leading up to the clothing swap, but they also staffed the swap, helping other employees to find their sizes and styles.
Everyone had such as good-time trying on something that perhaps they wouldn’t normally spend money on, just to see if it suited them with pleasant results. There was even plenty of kid’s clothes of all sizes. We know how quickly they can grow out of stuff.
Debra Herzog, Country Manager, Tek Experts USA in Colorado Springs said: “It was kind of neat seeing someone I work with wearing one of my tops. I’m really glad the top got used and that the event was such a success.”
“I use the event as a great excuse to clear out my closet of clothes and shoes. I had forgotten some of the stuff I found there and while they are still in good shape, I’m not going to wear them again.” said Amelie Wright, HR Support Administrator.
After the event, the leftover clothes were taken by the team to a local charity we work with. Imagine our surprise when we learnt we had donated over 100lbs of clothes.
This is a great example of the activities we organize together, and at the same time support our community.
