What's it like to apply for a job in Tek Experts USA?

If you’re thinking of applying for a job at Tek Experts USA, you’ve come to the right place. As the title suggests, we’re about to give you the lowdown on what the recruitment process is like at Tek Experts USA and how to standout from other candidates.

You might be wondering why we’re prepared to give the game away but it’s all part of making our candidates feel comfortable when they come in for an interview, so that they can show us their true and best selves.

So what can you expect and more importantly, how can you stand out from the crowd? Alison Vaughan, Senior Recruiter at Tek Experts USA spills all…

Hiring process

If you meet the basic requirements with your application, you’ll be invited via email to attend an assessment day. At the assessment center, you’ll be asked to sit a series of tests including a technical test, customer service situational tests, a typing test and a personality test.

These tests are nothing to worry about – it just gives us the chance to test your current knowledge and see how much training you require, if any.
You’ll be informed whether you’ve got the job within 24 hours, if not before – we don’t like to keep you waiting here at Tek Experts!

What to do and what not to do

Alison’s top four tips for applying for a position at Tek Experts USA are:
  • Resumés matter
Ensure that your resumé is up-to-date, accurate and relevant.
  • Dress to impress
Make a good first impression by wearing an outfit that is suitably professional.
  • Switch off!
Turn off your cell phone for the duration of the interview – interruption can come across as unprofessional.
  • Do you research
Check out Tek Experts USA online and arm yourself with a few facts about the business.

Alison’s top three mistakes she sees most regularly are:
  • Arriving unprepared
You don’t need to remember much – just your resumé – so make sure you don’t forget it.
  • Rudeness
Even if you’re a little nervous, try not to be short tempered with anyone on the day.
  • Laziness
It doesn’t take much to do a bit of research on the company – but it can make all the difference between you and another candidate.

“Overall, I’m looking for enthusiasm, integrity and a passion for learning new things,” says Alison.

Questions to ask

At the end of the interview, you’ll have an opportunity to ask the interviewers some questions about the business and the role – don’t waste it. The questions that a candidate asks say a lot about their mindset and values.

If you’re struggling to think of what questions to ask, Alison provides some great examples:
1. What’s your favorite thing about working here?
2. Why is this position open?
3. What concerns do you have about my qualifications?
4. Can you tell me about the growth opportunities here?
5. What is the long-term strategy for this organization?
And last but not least, make sure you’ve got your head in the game from the very first minute of the interview. “You never know who you’ll meet in our lobby – it’s even been known for candidates to meet the company CEO, Naama Saar, on the day of their interview,” says Alison. So, make sure you bring your A-game!
